The Honorable Thomas J. Ridge presented: "Bridging the Employment Gap for College Students with Disabilities."

Students with disabilities take twice as long to secure a job after graduation. America's colleges and universities must find a new model to connect students and recent graduates with disabilities to meaningful careers. Gov. Ridge, chairman of the National Organization on Disability, says NOD has found examples of college campuses who get it right, and the lessons that can be learned. The stakes are high. If the higher education community cannot consistently provide a pipeline of graduates with disabilities, companies seeking to satisfy new federal disability employment targets are not likely to succeed.
