Susanne Sachsman Grooms is the Deputy Staff Director and Chief Counsel for the Democratic Staff of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, the main investigative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives.  The Committee has legislative jurisdiction over government wide reforms; executive branch ethics; federal records and transparency; the census, the postal service; and federal employees.  As lead counsel, she has overseen teams of attorneys on a broad range of high-profile investigations. 

She also served for more than two years as the Staff Director and General Counsel for the Democratic Staff of the Select Committee on Benghazi and served on the investigatory and trial team for the Impeachment of President Trump. Among other roles, she has served as an adviser to the Deputy Commissioner for Services and Enforcement and a senior counselor to the Chief of Criminal Investigations of the Internal Revenue Service and as a prosecutor in the Tax Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.
